After the disappointing decision of calling off their previous weeks fixture due to lack of players Boston United Community took to the field looking for their first points of the season. Still short of several regulars, with one having to pull out half an hour before kick off, Boston signed two new players before the game. Boston started the brighter of the two teams with the running of Nicky Syndercombe and Tom Owen from the flanks causing problems. Young striker Rory Murphy opened the scoring when he lobbed the keeper on the half volley from the edge of the area following a scramble.Wyberton Reserves started the brighter of the two teams in the second half and equalised soon after half time. Half time substitute, and new signing Martyn Patterson caused Wybertons back four a different problem with his hold up play and bringing others around him into the game. Patterson missed a glorious chance to put Boston back in front when his finishing deserted him following some fine skill. Wesley Hunt playing his first game in almost a year looked like he'd never been away controlling the left flank. Patterson got the winner with a cool finish one on one with the keeper to seal the win.
